Teaching & Research

The IAS produces conferences, lectures series, performances and events, and traveling exhibitions, drawing on the expertise of the university to address the concerns of our community.

IAS programs reflect the conviction that the arts offer profound insight into the most pressing ecological, cultural, political, and social questions of our time. The IAS staff collaborates with faculty in the Arts and across the UC Santa Cruz curriculum to bring the arts into conversation with other disciplines, promoting critical engagement with the world.
