Public programs at the Institute currently include talks, symposia, workshops, dialogues with faculty, and major public receptions for exhibitions.

The Institute regularly hosts Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER) events throughout the year. These interdisciplinary events are part of a national program of evening gatherings that bring artists, scientists, and scholars together for informal presentations and conversations.

In the future, performing arts events will offer faculty and student choreographers, directors, actors, and musicians opportunities to use the Institute's architecture and grounds as a venue for new forms of audience-performer interaction. Walking tours of UCSC Science labs and tours of Institute exhibitions will be developed with student interns and docents.
