Collective Museum is a campus-wide art installation by Portland-based artist group Public Doors and Windows composed of Harrell Fletcher, Molly Sherman, and Nolan Calisch. The innovative and immense project spans the university’s 2001 acres and, as the artists explain, “takes the campus from having no museum to having one of the largest museums in the world.” Utilizing the technologies of a museum, including a web-based audio tour and signage, Collective Museum assembles stories contributed by faculty, staff, students, and alumni about 50 sites on campus and offers an embodied glimpse of the lived experiences of this unique university campus.
