We are very pleased to announce that Nion McEvoy has donated $1 million to support UC Santa Cruz’s Institute of the Arts and Sciences.
A 1974 graduate of UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Literature, McEvoy is now the CEO of Chronicle Books in San Francisco, where he is a major supporter of the arts and a trustee at SFMOMA. The donation was made in honor of his late mother, Nan Tucker McEvoy, former board chair and principal owner of the San Francisco Chronicle.
This gift, which will be given over a five year period, supports our unique programming of events, lectures, exhibitions, performances, and cross-campus collaborations.
We could not be more pleased or excited about this announcement. We are deeply grateful to Nion McEvoy and the many others who have contributed to the IAS.
Very best,
John Weber
