On this trip, we will be visiting Fort Mason Center for Art & Culture to see Playtime, an ambitious exhibition of three recent video installations by award-winning British artist Isaac Julien. Each film installation explores the wide-ranging effects of how information, labor, and capital circulate in global, networked societies. Isaac Julien spoke at UCSC in late November as part of the Traction: Art Talks.
Additionally, we will visit SFMOMA and Yerba Buena, two of the leading institutions of modern and contemporary art in San Francisco.
The bus will leave from the Performing Arts Parking Lot (adjacent to the Digital Arts Research Center) at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 1. The bus will leave San Francisco to return to UC Santa Cruz at 7 p.m. that same evening.
The bus trip and museum admission to SFMOMA and Yerba Buena is FREE for UCSC undergraduate and graduate students and accompanying faculty.
