Center for the Study of Race, Politics & Culture (CSRPC) Annual Public Lecture Featuring Gina Dent on “Visualizing Abolition: How To Imagine A World Without Prisons”

CSRPC’s Annual Public Lecture features distinguished public intellectuals whose work enhances our understanding of the centrality of race and racism to the systems we inhabit. Professor Gina Dent discusses “Visualizing Abolition: How To Imagine A World Without Prisons.” Professor Dent will be in conversation with Cathy J. Cohen, Chair of the UChicago Department of Race, Diaspora, and Indigeneity. Reception and tabling with community-based organizations at 6 p.m., program begins at 7 p.m. The first 50 people to arrive will receive a free copy of Professor Dent’s book, “Abolition. Feminism. Now.,” which she coauthored with Angela Y. Davis, Erica R. Meiners, and Beth E. Richie.
